On 12 July 2023, the IDS Delegation led by Chairperson, Datuk Adeline Leong, paid a courtesy visit to Penang Institute, think tank of Penang State Government. The delegation was welcomed by Dato’ Dr. Ooi Kee Beng, the Executive Director, Tony Yeoh (Visiting Senior Fellow), Ong Wooi Leng (Head, Socioeconomics and Statistics Programme), Yeong Pey Jung (Research Projects Advisor and Senior Analyst) and Fauwaz Abdul Aziz (Analyst, History & Regional Studies). The main purpose of the visit is to explore potential collaboration in the field of policy research concerning socio-economic development. Both Institutes shared information on research focus and discovered profound similarities on how to play a central role in formulation and adaptation of strategy based on the state’s capacity. The IDS delegation greatly appreciates the warm welcome and look forward to an extended discussion on issues that connect Sabah and Penang.
